Nobody wants to be in a situation where a diver gets into trouble and needs help, however, we need to train for that day just in case and that is where the Emergency First Response course comes in. We will train you over a one day course and give you the necessary skills needed if an emergency situation should arise. You don’t need to have any diving qualifications or indeed be a diver to take this course. This course is all about learning how to react and deal with life threatening events either in or out of the water.
Here is what will be covered throughout the one day course:
- Basic first aid
- Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR and rescue breathing
- Preventing and caring for shock
- Spinal injury management
- Use of barriers to reduce the risk of transmission diseases
The topic areas are as follows: Primary Care (CPR), Secondary Care (First Aid), Care for Children, CPR & AED, First Aid at Work , EFR Refresher
To develop your knowledge and skills the Emergency First Response course offers a Primary and Secondary Care manual. The class also watches a DVD, which highlights various emergency scenarios and gives easy to understand demonstrations on how to deal with them. You will then have the necessary skills needed, should you wish, to then further your training for use both in and out of the water.
